HHRC Maine Statement on Holocaust Denial and Nazi Symbols

The Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine stands firmly against Holocaust denial, Holocaust distortion, and the use of symbols associated with Nazism. These acts are not merely offensive; they actively undermine historical truth, perpetuate antisemitism, and threaten the dignity and safety of Jewish communities and other groups targeted by hate.

As a nonprofit educational organization, HHRC Maine focuses on teaching history accurately and fostering understanding. We develop programs, resources, and public education initiatives that explore the historical context of the Holocaust, the meaning and impact of Nazi symbols, and the dangers of extremist ideologies.  By highlighting the lessons of history, we aim to equip communities with the knowledge and tools to recognize and confront prejudice, hate, and misinformation.

Our work emphasizes the values of human rights, empathy, and historical truth. We encourage discussion and awareness about antisemitism, racism, and other forms of discrimination, in all contexts and across all communities, while remaining fully nonpartisan. HHRC Maine does not engage in political campaigning or support or oppose any candidate. Rather, we commit to educating the public in a manner consistent with our mission, fostering communities that respect human dignity and resist hatred in all its forms.

On November 6th our Distinguished Lecturer,  Dr. Katie Chaka Parks, Director of Education at Zekelman Holocaust Center in Michigan, will speak about how women’s experiences during the Holocaust were shaped by gender. Learn more.
