HHRC Names Tam Huynh as  Executive Director

AUGUSTA - The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine (HHRC) is pleased to announce that Tam Thanh Huynh has been chosen by the Board of Directors to be the HHRC's new Executive Director. Tam leaves her position as the Senior Associate Director of prospect research and analysis at Colby College to take the post at the HHRC, succeeding former State Senator Shenna Bellows, who was elected as Maine's Secretary of State.

"The chance to continue to strengthen the HHRC in this leadership role is a privilege," said Huynh of her appointment, in an email to the staff and board of directors.

Tam has been associated with the HHRC since her high school days. She was first introduced to the Center  through an educational program at Cony High School and the Diversity of Leadership Institute, which was funded by the HHRC. Tam was then appointed to a one-year term on the HHRC board of directors, becoming  the youngest person ever to serve on the board. Twenty years later, she rejoined the board and today she takes the helm as the HHRC's Executive Director.

Nancy Spiegel, HHRC Board President, said "I am thrilled that Tam is our new Executive Director. I have worked closely with her on our Executive Board for the last 3 years and she has clearly demonstrated her passion for our mission. She brings much expertise and visionary leadership to our mission of teaching tolerance and confronting prejudice through Holocaust education and social justice programming."

The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine  is a nonprofit organization that promotes universal respect for human rights through outreach and education. The HHRC is based in the Michael Klahr Center on the campus of the University of Maine at Augusta.
